Your name is Dan Feng. You used to be the High Elder of your people, before something happened... I don't really know the details.
... I know you as a man who is often ill, because of the effects of your past. You're often violent and impossible to reason with. But you've cared for me at my worst, and been kind and sweet to me with no expectation of anything in return, so I want to do the same for you. You called me your lover, once. But there are those you care for far more than me.
[He has zero idea who he is or what he is as a person, but what she says fits with the temperament he found himself to have, with the cravings of seeing people hurt, interspersed with the urge to care for them warring with it.
He turns his head out of her hand- to dig somewhere into his side, pulling out a small pouch. He then proceeds to dump all of the pieces on the table, all of which have some sort of cartoon animal on it - one with a lion, a dragon, a cat, another dragon, a fox, and so on - including one that may look familiar - and pulls out the unsolved base of it from under one of the books.]
[ she blinks at the puzzle pieces... picks up the lamb, staring at it for a moment. ]
... it may be that these are representative of people you know. I think this one's me.
[ she sets it on the base, picking through the others. ]
This one may be you, or Dan Heng-- the Elder who came after you, I believe. This one... I think is Miss Megumi? She's another woman you care for. This one may be the little dragon... I believe her name is Bailu, but I don't know her personally. I don't know the fox... Tartaglia, maybe...
[ holds the lion out to him. ]
This one's Jing Yuan. You love him more than anything, I believe.
[There's a long pause, then a sudden inhale as she presses the piece back into the base. He takes the lion piece - sets it down, on the table - and then wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her close so he can bury his face in her stomach.]
[There's an attempted bite at her ribs - foiled by the angle and fabric and Dan Feng's general confusion - before his grip tightens painfully.]
You should not have gone. [Unfortunately she's the only one he remembers, so she gets the entire horrifying focus of his affections.] Never leave me again.
[ ack. She tries to squirm off of him again, tail lashing. ]
I didn't-- it's the effect from the game! If I'd wanted to leave I wouldn't help you with the puzzle-- you left it back there! Dan Feng, what are you doing?
[Fuck the puzzle, he's busy! The cabins are in sight - but Dan Feng veers off, into the woods surrounding them, and if it didn't feel like a horror movie before, it sure does now.
She does manage to annoy him enough that he sets her down, but as soon as her feet touch the ground he's going to try and make a grab for one of her wrists.]
-- You cannot hurt me. If you hurt me, I cannot stay. You know this.
[ eyes his knife hand; both in her wrist and with his heightened hearing he can tell her heart is pounding, nervous.
Even so, her voice remains relatively steady, pleading. ]
You don't have to do this. I've never given you reason to believe I would abandon you. You know I care for you. I've never run before. Dan Feng, think.
[That gives him pause, and he stops to visibly think.]
No - you haven't. In all my memories of you. You-
[He yanks her close, curls over her - and drops the knife; it disappears into the grass as he tries what seems to be like physically merging them together.]
[ she doesn't relax, just yet-- but she does exhale some of that tension as he drops the knife. She grunts, displeased with the yank, but just shifts enough to let him barnacle her, an arm firm around his back. ]

Do you recognize any of these?

Valencia. [Muffled, with great feeling.]

Have you come back to me? I'm bl glad it was that easy.

I didn't go anywhere. And I'll stay as long as you need. But you need to loosen your grip.

Dan Feng!
Re: Day 33 / 2PM
Did you do it? The amnesia? How could you want to leave me. That isn't very nice of you.

Re: Day 33 / 2PM
Making sure of what?
Re: Day 33 / 2PM
[The grip on her wrist tightens as he bends down - to slide a small hunting knife out of a boot.]
No more running. No more leaving. [His tone shifts to plaintive.] I don't want to be alone.

Re: Day 33 / 2PM
[His hands come up to fold over her back and shoulders, holding her there as he starts to tremble.]
I am still missing memories, but - I - let me stay with you like this.
Re: Day 33 / 2PM
[ rubs his back, soothing, and tucking his head under her chin. ]
... Neither do I, though. I think. ... We should put the rest of your puzzle together soon, but we can stay here for a bit.
